![]() Public Services - Surprisingly, Police, Fire, and Hospitals are usually missing from Cities despite their prolific status within LEGO products.If a Builder adds housing they usually just have a small handful of houses on the outskirts of the Downtown to suggest a suburb, this is a great compromise. Most people don't have a warehouse to build a city in so having a sprawling suburb isn't usually something builders concerntrate on. Housing - This is harder to put into a city.Industrial features tend to be a little rarer as it moves a display closer to realism than the escapism world most people desire when building LEGO. The water also makes it easy to add some more industrial builds, like cargo ships, fishing boats, oil rigs. Beach / Harbor - A place for your townfolk to relax, grab an ice cream from a street vendor.For those that use LEGO's Modular buildings this area is what most LEGO City Displays consist of. The focal point of most Cities, after all your minifigures do need somewhere to go. High Street / Retail district - with shops, restaurants, and office space.Is it a harbor town? Bustling Sky-scraper paradise? Quaint town with rows of townhouses? Larger Cities incorporate most of these things in some capacity but that doesn't mean you have to. However there are common things that link most LEGO Cities.įirstly you want to think about the scope of your City. As with all LEGO you are only limited by your imagination. There are no rules about what you must put in a City. It also helps limit how big a MOC will be also saving me valuable space. If a MOC uses too many parts I will not be able to build as much. This is largely a budgetary consideration, I don't have unlimited funds and would like to build as much as I can. I will not be ruling out alt builds of official sets but I will not be putting a LEGO modular in it's official form in my city.
